To celebrate the Chinese New Year, a special and colorful exhibition was held at the Permeke Bibliotheek, in Antwerp: the Legends of Lion Dance. This unique exhibition in Belgium started on 28 January and ended on 16 February 2017) with a grand opening on 27 January.  12 lionheads made in Hong Kong were presented at the exhibition.

The Lion dance is a Chinese tradition and grows popularity in Hong Kong which aims to bring luck and prosperity.  This practice plays an important role in the traditional Chinese religion and cult. The Lion dance, as its name indicates, is a traditional dance in the Chinese culture in which dancers, influenced by the music of beating drums, clashing cymbals, and intensified gongs, imitate the movements of a lion in a lion costume.
