On 10 May 2025, over 7,000 spectators and paddlers gathered in the beautiful Kattendijkdok of the City of Antwerp for the 11th Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival, one of the city's most popular annual events.
Organised by Rotary Antwerp International and Rotary Antwerp West, the festival brought together some 30 dragon boat teams for a full day of spirited racing, cultural exchanges, and community celebrations. The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels was the event’s title sponsor.
The KU Leuven team was once again proudly sponsored by the BHKS Education Fund to support cultural exchange between Hong Kong and Belgium. BHKS members were also invited to join the race in the "Hong Kong Dragons" team with family and friends.
Proceeds from the event supported local and global charities, including Thomas Houses and Mercy Ships, adding a meaningful dimension to the festivities.
